At Unfoldd CTF, we take your privacy seriously. As a cybersecurity platform, we practice what we preach regarding data minimization and secure storage. This policy outlines exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

  • Account Data: When you register via SSO or email, we store your email address, chosen handle, and basic profile data.
  • Security & Audit Logs: To ensure platform integrity and detect cheating, we log IP addresses, login timestamps, and HTTP request metadata.
  • Telemetry & Sandbox Data: For certain advanced challenges (e.g., SSH environments, isolated web containers), we may monitor bash history, executed commands, and network traffic strictly for cheat-detection and scoring validation.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected information exclusively to:

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the CTF infrastructure.
  • Verify the legitimacy of challenge solves and maintain accurate leaderboards.
  • Contact you regarding prizes, event updates, or account security issues.
  • Generate anonymous, aggregated statistics about platform usage (e.g., "500 students solved this challenge").

3. Data Sharing & Visibility

Your email address and private account details are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Public Visibility: Your handle, team name, college affiliation (if provided), and submission timestamps are visible on public scoreboards and leaderboards. If you wish to remain anonymous, you may use a pseudonym for your handle.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data as long as your account is active. Because Unfoldd is a career and academic portfolio platform, we keep your CTF achievements permanently to help you showcase your skills to employers. However, you have the right to request full account deletion (the "Right to be Forgotten") at any time by contacting support.
